As part of our outplacement packages, Surcorp RS Outplacement offers full career transition coaching encompassing the following service components: “Job Loss Counselling,” “Skills Assessments,” “Career Profile Testing,” “Job Search Assistance,” “Re-Employment Planning,” “Networking Training” and “Career & Personal Evaluations.” Our 4-phase holistic job loss counselling and career coaching approach supports clients through difficult career transitions by encouraging them to develop goals and tactical step-by-step plans to achieve the results they seek.

Background: Our Career Coaches work closely with our clients on diverse career related issues. We customize areas to the client’s specific needs and objectives. With our guidance, the client is able to develop and evaluate a career strategy, which can include career progression or career-change goals, managing transition following rightsizing, as well as assistance with identifying and successfully pursuing new opportunities.

Content: During each customized coaching program our Career Coaches help the client build knowledge and articulate key professional competencies and personal attributes. By using personality testing, such as Myers Briggs, we can assist the client to assess natural behaviours, strengths and weaknesses. This information can provide valuable insight for the career coaching process, helping the client to portray professional and personal strengths, while at the same time redefine and address potential handicaps.

Learning Outcomes: The Career Coaching Program is a 4 Step Program that works to prepare and empower the candidate to successfully execute their career transition or job search campaign.

The First Step focuses on Self-Discovery, including identifying strengths, values and goals. Surcorp Career Coaches partner with the client to complete diverse professional assessments and exercises by asking thoughtful questions during the interviews. Improved self-knowledge allows the client to leverage their strengths, enhance self-confidence and ensure professional progression. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the Strong Campbell Interest Inventory, and the Comprehensive Occupational Preference System (COPS) may be applied.

Step Two assists the client in exploring various career possibilities based on their interests and professional qualifications. We coach clients to use effective research methods to explore different career options and determine the one that best aligns with their capabilities and motivations. With an Outplacement Consultant’s assistance, clients will review, analyze and interpret the results of their Personalized Career Assessments and additional testing to isolate their strengths and focus their job searches. They will also develop strategies for identifying and building upon their network of contacts.

During the Third Step, we empower the client through a highly personalized career marketing plan that leverages what they have learned in the self-discovery and exploration stages; refining the most optimal strategy for attaining a new job, career or entrepreneurial venture.

Lastly, Step Four guides the client through executing their plan and setting realistic goals to successfully navigate a career transition. This action-oriented phase involves working with an Outplacement Consultant to implement the strategies developed in Phases 2 & 3, providing opportunities for resolution of emergent motivational barriers, and ongoing refinement of clients’ personal networking and marketing plans.

 

Other potential topics include identification of educational requirements for targeted positions, assessment of market challenges for clients’ desired fields, coping techniques to help clients manage the stress of job loss, idea generation and mind-mapping for job searching, and visioning exercises.

Clients will also receive "laser" coaching sessions with their Outplacement Consultant to work on time-sensitive issues, celebrate successes, and discuss other specific concerns. All clients will receive a Coaching Package of career resources including a Transition Brochure with resources to help them navigate the job search process.
